COFFEE

Your first cup of coffee in the morning can set the tone for the entire day. Good coffee can make conversation remarkable, rush hour tolerable, and solitude memorable. At Wendel’s we have taken great care in serving the highest quality coffee.

After test tasting and researching many different coffee roasters, Wendel’s chose Torrefazione Italia. (tor-ray-faht-see-own-ay)(ee-tahl-ee-ah). The name Torrefazione is Italian and means “coffee roaster” and “Italia” means “Italy” in English. Torrefazione has supplied coffee to Italian espresso bars long before it was trendy to drink lattes. Aromatic and delicious, Torrefazione Italia coffee has proven itself as an outstanding coffee.

We have chosen four Torrefazione roasts for Wendel’s, Pisa and Palermo or as we describe to our customers a light roast and a dark roast. The Perugia Blend is the blend we use for our espresso grind. Montecatini is our decaf blend, a medium-dark roast.

Each of these roasts are also available for your home use and can be ground to suit your coffee equipment.

Pisa
Bright and full-bodied, this blend also features a rich, buttery texture that is wonderfully smooth and mellow. Soft yet still crisp, the complexity of this coffee makes it one of our most popular full-bodied blends.Wendel’s uses Pisa for our "light" roast brewed coffee.
Perugia
Wonderfully rich, with a heady aroma and smooth flavour notes, the full bodied Perugia Blend is a tribute to the coffee-roasting art developed by Torrefazione’s founders two generations ago. This spirited blend is used for espresso.

Montecatini
This decaffeinated blend delivers smooth textures and a spicy aroma. The subtle brightness keeps the coffee lively and easy to drink any time of the day. It’s so rich in flavour, you won’t believe it’s decaffeinated.

Palermo
Torrefazione’s darkest roast is full-bodied and rich, with velvety textures and soft, delicate flavours. Each cup starts with an intense aroma, followed by a buttery body and chocolate-like bittersweet flavor. The velvety texture lingers pleasantly on the tongue.  This is also an excellent blend for French press coffee. Wendel’s uses Palermo for our dark roast brewed coffee.
